Beautiful genuine mid-19th century French walnut armoire dating from approximately 1850–1865, in the classic Louis Philippe style.

A substantial and well-made piece, crafted from solid walnut with lovely figured grain, original panelled doors, moulded cornice and traditional bracket feet. It has a wonderful warm patina that has developed over more than 160 years.

The interior is currently fitted with a hanging rail and upper shelf, making it ideal as a practical wardrobe while retaining its antique character.

As expected for a piece of this age, it does have some age-related wear and would benefit from a little restoration. The most notable issue is that one piece of the decorative door trim has come away but is included and could be easily reattached with a good quality wood glue. There are also some historic marks and signs of use consistent with its age.

A beautiful statement piece that would suit both traditional and contemporary interiors.
