Vintage JVC CD-1740 Cassette Deck – Restoration Project
Stapleford, Nottinghamshire
£30
1 of 9
Description
Vintage JVC CD-1740 top-loading stereo cassette tape deck, made in Japan during the mid-1970s.
Obtained as part of a family house clearance and offered as an untested restoration project or source of spare parts.
The original mains plug has been removed from the cable, leaving the internal wires exposed. Consequently, the machine has not been connected to electricity or tested in any way. Its operational condition is completely unknown.
The cassette compartment opens, and the controls, switches, VU meters, recording-level sliders, counter and connection sockets are present as pictured. However, none of these functions have been electrically or mechanically tested.
There is noticeable cosmetic damage across the upper front panel, including scratches, marks and several gouged or melted areas where the plastic appears to have been exposed to heat. There are additional age-related marks and wear throughout. Please inspect all photographs carefully, particularly the close-up photographs showing the damage and cut cable.
Features include:
Top-loading cassette mechanism
Twin analogue VU meters
Dolby noise reduction
Separate left and right recording controls
Full automatic stop
Tape counter
Line input and output connections
Microphone and headphone connections
Sold strictly as untested and for spares or repair. The mains cable must be properly repaired and the unit electrically inspected by a competent person before any attempt is made to power it on.
Collection only from the Nottingham area. Sold exactly as pictured with no additional accessories included.
