Description

Lovely Mid-Century Impressionist Townscape Impasto Oil Painting by Jean Corbeau

Brief Description:

A beautiful and highly atmospheric original mid-20th-century Oil on Canvas Townscape Painting by artist Jean Corbeau.

The charming composition depicts a cluster of old European townhouses with weathered façades, red-tiled rooftops and distinctive architectural features beneath a wonderfully moody sky.

Painted in a loose, expressive Impressionist style, the artist has employed thick, richly textured impasto brushwork, creating a wonderful sense of depth, movement and character.

The beautifully balanced palette of muted blues, earthy browns, warm ochres and touches of terracotta adds considerably to the painting's atmospheric appeal.

Signed by the artist in the upper right corner.

The work is mounted within an attractive vintage giltwood frame, which complements the composition beautifully.

A wonderfully decorative, original mid-century painting, ready to be hung and enjoyed immediately
