Description
A framed colour print after a painting by well known Railway artist Don Breckon (1935-2013).
Titled 'Country Connection' it depicts a Great Western Steam locomotive at a station. The scene dates to the 1930s/40s, there is bus of that period in the carpark with a very smart car beyond. Advertising placards of the period along the platform . A solitary lady waits on a bench and three young boys are excitedly running along the line to the right. The location is uncertain, likely to be in the West Country and some have suggested that the station building looks like Kingsbridge in South Devon.
Signed and dated (1981) in the print lower right. Titled beneath the image. Published by Solomon & Whitehead in 1984.
Smartly presented with a brown card mount within a very complementary green frame with gold trim, echoing the livery of the train. Both the mount and the frame are in excellent condition.
Glazed and ready to hang.
Measures 47 x 57cm including the frame.
