Julian Cope first came to attention as the frontman of Liverpool post-punk group The Teardrop Explodes in the late '70s and early '80s. He has since become well known beyond this as a musician, as well as a political and cultural activist and writer. His written work to date includes two volumes of autobiography, two volumes on archaeology (he is a recognised authority on Neolithic culture), as well as three works of Musicology - Krautrocksampler, Japrocksampler, and Copendium: A Guide to the Musical Underground.
One Three One: A Time-Shifting Gnostic Hooligan Road Novel is his first ever work of fiction, a novel that follows the fortunes of drugged-up Time Traveller and '80s musical burnout Rock Section, who returns to Sardinia to seek out truths and settle scores years after his kidnapping on the island during Italia '90. As outside-the-box and vital as any of Cope's other work, it's an essential and lively novel that is sure to thrill.
