Selling our collections (hoards) of mostly French vintage items that have been acquired over many years until finally we have no room for more!

We got this from a Vide Maison at Lusigny sur Barse in the Champagne region and have had it stood in our kitchen having never got around to wall hanging it.
It’s a charming vintage eight drawer storage shelf or spice rack that the owner dated to the 1970s (apparently it was made by a relative).
I’m not sure if this is scratch built or has had running repairs/additions over the years but it’s certainly chippy in construction, I think made from pine which is now worn but sound.
The frame consists of four shelves, the top, a deeper lower one, an even deeper one below that and a narrow slot. It also looks like there is a slim shelf missing just below the top judging by the old nail marks.
The drawers are hand made from rough pine and have notes and numbers written on them in pencil indicating their position in the rack e.g - Haut Gauche (top left) Bas Gauche (lower left) - see photos.
This is no artisan piece and there is some dodgy carpentry, some worn corners and other areas of wear but it fits together nicely and has a good patina.
NOTE: this listing is just for the wooden rack - no spice jars or anything else is included.

Now worn but still sound it makes a great functional and decorative piece of French kitchenalia.
In good vintage condition with wear, chips and knocks consistent with its age and use but no damage - please see examine photos carefully for condition.
Solid and sound with no structural damage.
This was dirty on acquisition and has since had a clean and wax.
No sign of woodworm but I have treated it prior to waxing.
I think the wood is pine or similar but not certain.
Appears to be of nail construction rather than screwed and there are hammer marks around some of the nails - see photos.
The surfaces are worn with a little staining but sound and reasonably rigid.
There are two metal hangers for wall fitting.
The rear is a French grey painted plywood, or similar, panel that is a little worn but securely nailed in place - see photos.
The drawers all fit reasonably well.
All the drawers are worn but sound - NOTE: two have chip damaged corners, to the lower right corner of the upper right drawer and to the upper right corner of the lower right drawer - see photos.
There are small brass handles screwed to the drawers which are secure.
This can be freestanding or wall mounted.
I can find no maker’s mark.

Weighs about 5.6 kg.
