Vintage B. D'Arte F. Conz Wooden Railway Panels - Set of 3
Description:
For sale is a set of 3 vintage decorative wooden panels by B. D'Arte F. Conz with wonderful scenes of old British railways and steam locomotives.
The panels, made of solid wood, have a painted/decorative image on the wooden surface and a characteristic vintage finish.
The set includes:
PUBLIC NOTICE - Excursion train to London
Image of a vintage steam locomotive and the inscription:
"Public Notice - Excursion train - to London - May 3, 1877 - for ¼ head".
To CAMBRIDGE by train - discount
Vintage passenger steam locomotive and advertisement for a trip to Cambridge.
The inscriptions "Reduced fares", "First class 8s" and "Second class 4s".
BLENGHEIM - the residence of the Duke of Marlborough
Decorative panel with a steam locomotive and a historical plot of Blenheim/Marlborough.
On the front side there is a marking B. D'ARTE F. CONZ, and on the back there is a characteristic burnt/embossed stamp F. CONZ.
The panels have metal fasteners on the back and are ready to hang on the wall.
Condition: true vintage condition. There are scuffs, scratches, small chips of the coating, subsequent age and small holes/dots on the surface. The wood also shows natural joints and traces of aging. All nuances are well shown in the photographs and are taken into account in the price.
It is these traces of age that give the panels a characteristic antique look.
According to auction catalogs, similar works by B. D'Arte F. Conz belong to vintage decorative wooden panels of the 20th century. The inscriptions and historical dates on the images themselves reproduce ancient plots and are not the date of manufacture of the panels.
A beautiful and unusual set for a collector, lover of steam locomotives, British railway souvenirs, vintage/retro decor, as well as for decorating an office, pub, cafe, bar or country house
