Mid century walnut metamorphic executive desk dining table sideboard vintage retro
Leicester, Leicestershire
£325
Description
A piece of classic mid century furniture, first displayed at the Ideal Home Exhibition at Earls Court in the early 1970s, this is a metamorphic sideboard, which transitions into a dining table or desk using an ingenious hidden mechanism.
Highly attractive in both formats, this is a unique piece of mid century styling, and a real talking point piece of furniture.
In excellent vintage condition with just the odd mark or ding you would expect on a piece of this age, there are a number of useful and stylish features in a highly collectible item.
As a sideboard, the unit is attractive and useful, featuring two shelves for all sorts of items - probably used in the 1970s as a buffet sideboard, stored to the side of the dining room.
When required, using the brass handle pull at the front of the sideboard, by retracting this pull you can swing the two leaves of the dining table up into place, producing a spacious, solid and attractive dining table for at least 4 people to sit at comfortably.
An alternative use for the piece when open would be as an executive desk - with lots of surface space and a useful shelf underneath, it is at the perfect height for use in this manner also.
Highly versatile and attractive, this is a fantastic piece of mid century furniture. The icing on the cake is that the item is on castors, providing ease of movement when needed. These could also be removed if preferred.
