Description
Due to a change in circumstances, I’m unfortuantely having to put my Japanese market Eunos Roadster up for sale. I bought it in 2024 and had intended on keeping it forever, but such is life…
I’ll get the bad parts out the way first. The body work is a bit tatty in places, the passengers side rear quarter needs some attention. There was a small patch of rust that needed cut out and repaired and the finish of the repair isn’t great. There is some scabby paintwork on the passengers side front wing. There is a dent on the drivers rear quarter. Despite the somewhat crappy body work, the chassis of the car is totally rot free as evidenced by the advisory free MOT valid till March 2027.
There is a clunk coming from somewhere in the driveline. The clunk happens when coming off the accelerator sharply, doesn’t happen if easing off. Comes from the rear, maybe diff or shaft.
The clutch release bearing is noisy.
The passengers side headlight retract doesn’t work. Haven’t had time to diagnose/fix.
The AFR gauge doesn’t read properly. Haven’t had time to fix
It’s got some interior rattles. It’s loud as f**k and a bit obnoxious.

If you’re still interested after that read on :)
It’s an S-Special in black. Imported into the UK in 2005. The arches and sills were apparently professionally done in 2015, but I have no evidence of this. However, the condition of the sills suggests this is about right. At some point during its time in the UK it has been fitted with an Eaton M45 positive displacement supercharger, along with the correct supporting mods for the time; Greddy E-Manage Blue ECU, boost gauge and oil cooler. The car is fitted with an Innovate Motorsports wideband controller and Bosch LSU 4.9 wideband sensor, but something isn’t working right, the gauge just flashes the number 7.8. This could just be the sensor, or it could be something wrong with the controller, I haven’t had time to diagnose/fix it. It doesn’t affect how the car drives.
The car is fitted with some form of Meister R coilovers which are height and damping adjustable. Front and rear anti-roll bars have been uprated to thicker items. The wheels are genuine BBS wrapped with Michelin PS3s.
I drive the car hard and it eats it up. The temperature always stays stable and it holds excellent oil pressure when it is hot. The whine from the supercharger is something else. The power delivery is just right for the car. But be warned, there is no ABS, no traction control and no air-bags - Just you and the car. It makes for a very rewarding drive, there's nothing quite like stringing together a bunch of corners on a B-Road.
As I had intended on keeping the car, I have spent a small fortune on it over the past couple of years. Work done in my ownership includes:
• Full brake overhaul front and rear, with new calipers, disks, pads, hand brake cables, braided brake lines (all 4 corners and front-rear and subframe line), and DOT 4 racing fluid.
• Destroy or Die clutch master-to-slave braided line.
• Both front wheel bearings.
• New rear springs from direct from Meister R.
• Replacement Engine due to old one burning oil (replacement had 103k miles), New engine has strong oil pressure and not a hint of smoke out the back.
• Full service including Diff, Gearbox, Coolant.
• Water pump, timing belt, idlers and all gaskets changed when new engine went in.
• New vinyl rag top in April 25 fitted by MX5 City.
• Brand new battery March 26.
• Toyota headlight assemblies and relay wiring loom to replace the old sealed beam units.
I also have a HRW Hard-top for the car and a bunch of spare parts if the buyer is interested, negotiable separately.
There’s so much more to mention but the advert would soon turn into an essay (more so than it is already).
--No test pilots unless you have proof of fully comprehensive insurance--
TL;DR – Rot free NA MX-5 with some good mods and a few things needing fixed.
