Description

1968 Triumph TR250 – Classic British Roadster with True Six-Cylinder Character

Offered for sale is a superb Triumph TR250, one of the most desirable British sports cars of the classic era. Powered by the 2.5-litre straight-six engine paired with a manual gearbox with overdrive, this is a pure analogue driving experience from a time when driving was all about connection and feel.

This example benefits from a long and well-documented history file dating back to its UK importation in 1988. It underwent an older restoration between 1988 and 1992 and still presents very well today, retaining much of its original charm. The current owner has cherished the car for the past 27 years, a testament to its quality and care.

It features a professional right-hand-drive conversion and an engine rebuild carried out in 2013, including a Stage 2 cylinder head upgrade, hardened valve seats for unleaded fuel, and a TR5 camshaft. It runs strongly with good oil pressure and compression, and no signs of overheating.

The interior remains in classic Triumph style, featuring a walnut dashboard with natural patina, original instrumentation, and a smart three-spoke steering wheel. Replacement high-back seats with headrests are currently fitted, while the original seats are also included in excellent condition.

Finished in its original Signal Red, the exterior presents very well for its age, showing only minor age-related imperfections consistent with a well-preserved older restoration. The car also benefits from a rare factory hardtop, a highly desirable addition.

Mechanically, the car is fitted with twin SU carburettors, stainless steel exhaust, recent brake discs and pads, and remains a very usable and enjoyable driver’s car.

Highlights:

Older restoration in excellent condition

Extensive history file dating back to 1988

Same owner for 27 years

Engine rebuilt in 2013 with performance upgrades

Rare factory hardtop included

Strong, usable classic with great club support

A beautifully characterful British sports car that delivers a rewarding driving experience and stands as one of the most iconic six-cylinder Triumphs ever produced.
