Introduction
Quirky, compact, and instantly recognisable, microcars have had a cult following for many years. Enthusiasts and collectors alike are charmed by their tiny proportions, retro styling, novelty, and of course. parking flexibility!
This rare 1960 Scootacar Mk1 has been with the same family for around 31 years. Our vendors father bought it in October 1995. It was in restored condition when he acquired it and he continued to maintain 720 BTM to a high standard, spending many hours tinkering with it in his garage. He sadly passed away a few years ago and ownership changed to his son, John, in December 2018. John continued to maintain the Scootacar in his father's honour, starting and driving it around the garden regularly. He also had it repainted professionally in 2025.
It's now time to let the Scootacar go to a new home, so here is your opportunity to acquire a rare, entertaining slice of British motoring history.
Model Background & History
Manufactured by Scootacars Ltd in Hunslet, Leeds, the Scootacar was one of Britain's most distinctive microcars. Originally developed as an economical urban vehicle, its compact dimensions and unique styling made it stand out. Designed by Henry Brown, it's said that he did it by sitting on a Villiers engine and having an assistant draw an outline around him!
Today, surviving examples are considerably rarer than many of their contemporaries, making them a fascinating addition to any collection of unusual British classics.
