Description
This lot will be auctioned via Iconic Auctioneers, The Classic Sale at Supercar Fest 2026 on Saturday the 16th of May, Sywell Aerodrome, Sywell, Northampton, NN6 0BN. , Introduced in 1979 to celebrate 50 years of MG production at Abingdon, the Limited Edition (LE) models were the last built there before the factory's closure in October 1980.,This 1981 MG B GT LE marks the final chapter of the MG B’s production line at Abingdon, one of just 520 GT Limited Edition examples built alongside 480 LE Roadsters,Designed as a farewell tribute, the GT LE was distinguished by Pewter Metallic paint, silver-grey 'deckchair' interior trim, alloy wheels, and special LE badging throughout,This is number 990 of the last 1,000 cars and has led an incredibly cosseted life. Having been purchased but not registered by its first owner in 1980, it was then loaned to what is now the Coventry Transport Museum, where it remained until 1985. It was then removed from the museum, where its owner, an MG enthusiast decided to have it road registered, hence the reason it is on a later registration, with a special registration specific to the car,It then only covered a few hundred miles until our vendor purchased the car in 2002 and used it sparingly himself. The car has only covered 1,278 miles from new and remains in superb condition all-round. Although the vehicle was last MOT'd in 2004, it has regularly been started up and drives well, but will require light recommissioning should its new owner wish to use it on the road,The car's original seats have been stored and remain in good condition, the set fitted were installed to keep the original set unspoilt by use, and are offered with the car,It's supplied with its original owners book pack, with handbook and service book included along with some old MOTs and letters of correspondence from the museum about the loan of the car,The appropriate Registration Number - B990 BGT - will remain with the car,An amazing opportunity to purchase a time-warp MG in superb all-round condition, with less than 1,300 miles from new ,
Alloy Wheels; Electronic Stability Program (ESP); Safety Belt Pretensioners
