The Public Relations and Communications Manager role:
Part of the Communications team, the Public Relations and Communications Manager is a rewarding and exciting role at Migrant Help. You will work closely with the Head of Communications to deliver all external and internal communications. You will help develop and implement the organisational communications strategy, ensure effective media engagement, and take a leading role in Migrant Help's campaigning activities. You will ensure that our staff feel connected to the organisation and feel empowered to champion Migrant Help and its clients.
If you have demonstrable experience leading on media engagement, both proactive and reactive, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships, and are looking for an exciting role that makes a difference, we'd love to hear from you!
Key responsibilities of our Public Relations and Communications Manager:
Help develop and implement Migrant Help's communications strategies that will increase the reach and impact of the charity's workLead on both proactive and reactive media engagementCultivate relationships with influential print, digital and broadcast journalists or thought leaders within our sectorWrite or approve media releases and other press materials, be first point of contact for media enquiries, brief spokespeople within the organisation as requiredWork closely with external PR agency on all public relations activities and awareness raising campaignsSupport the charity's fundraising activitiesUndertake the necessary monitoring and evaluation to determine the success or otherwise of communications and public relations activitiesSupport and develop a team of communication officers to deliver high quality and timely workDevelop and promote Migrant Help's brand voice and act as a 'brand guardian' ensuring consistency across all internal and external communicationsWrite or approve digital content for our website and social media outlets in collaboration with the Senior Digital Marketing OfficerPromote the organisation to relevant bodies / key decision makers in the public, private and voluntary sectorsRaise visibility and enhance Migrant Help's status as having a positive impact on the communityContribute to the production of content for corporate partners, bids, fundraising, information and marketing materials, as necessaryProvide communications support for external conferences and events as requiredDeputise for the Head of Communications as requiredPromote equality, diversity and employee rights and obligations in all actions and activitiesDemonstrate the behaviours required of a communications professional at all timesThe experience and skills you need as our Public Relations and Communications Manager:
Demonstrable experience of working within communications and public relations on managerial levelCreative approach to developing, implementing and evaluating organisational communication activitiesKnowledge and understanding of ethical storytelling principles and working in equal partnership with people with lived experienceExcellent writing and editing skills and the ability to write compelling copy for a wide range of channels and audiencesExcellent communication and editorial skills, with outstanding proofreading ability and attention to detailMigrant Help is committed to safeguarding those we provide a service to, applicants will have to undergo strict vetting procedures throughout different stages of the recruitment process therefore:
