Overview

I’m selling my 2000 Mk2 MX-5 1.6 in silver as a spares or repair or as a project car. It has a K&N air intake and filter and aftermarket steering wheel, gear knob and window winders. Also chrome sill plates and style bar plus lower grill insert. It has been off the road and in dry storage for the last 6 years. The engine runs well and pulls strongly, but the car has several known issues and no current MoT, so it will need to be trailered or recovered.

I'll give as much information as possible to reflect the work needed. A thorough and honest, detailed report of the vehicle can be found in the condition description. It is currently not road legal has no MoT.

Vehicle has been dry stored for last 6 years and the V5 is in my name. It is a project or donor car. Included is the Mazda Maintenance Record book for when it was on the road detailing regular services. No accident damage. Structurally it is sound bar rusty sills. Good oil pressure and the engine is strong. Recent battery, plugs and HT leads, fuel drained and fresh added. No oil or water leaks. Can be seen running. Requires oil change and auxiliary belt. Paint good. One large scratch to near side, a couple of small dents in the wings. Lights good. Interior good. Seats good. Dashboard condition good. Roof works well - stitching has come away around the rear window. No power to instrument panel. Heater good. Drivetrain good. Gearbox good. Clutch good. Brakes fair. Steering good. Suspension good. Alternator good.

Known Issues / Work Needed

· No MoT – sold as spares or repair, not road legal
· Dashboard has no power – cause unknown; could be a fuse, relay, earth, or wiring issue. I haven’t investigated it.
· Hood rear window stitching has come adrift – will need attention or repair
· Sills: previously schultzed and painted; visible corrosion starting
· Higher mileage at 135k

Summary

This is an honest, dry-stored Mk2 with a strong engine and a known list of faults. It is not a turn-key car and won’t pass an MoT as it stands. It would suit someone who wants a project, a donor car, a car to recommission over time, or a drift/track car build.
