Description

Job Title: Single–Spindle Machine Setter / Operator (Precision Engineering)

Location: Leicester

Hours: Days

Pay rate: GBP13.50 to GBP15ph

A well–established precision engineering company in Leicester is looking for an experienced Single–Spindle Machine Setter / Operator to take ownership of a key production section. This role is ideally suited to someone with strong shopfloor experience who is confident working with traditional cam–operated machinery.

The Role

You will be primarily responsible for setting, running, and maintaining single–spindle, cam–operated, bar–fed automatic machines. This is a hands–on role requiring a solid understanding of spindle machine setup, tooling, and production optimisation to ensure consistent, high–quality output.

Key Responsibilities

Full setup and operation of single–spindle cam–operated bar–fed machines

Adjusting cams, tooling, and feeds to achieve optimal performance

Monitoring production output, quality, and machine efficiency

Diagnosing and resolving machining or setup issues

Carrying out routine maintenance and basic fault finding

Ensuring adherence to health & safety and quality standards

About You

Proven experience working with single–spindle automatic machines

Strong shopfloor engineering background

Ability to set machines independently and troubleshoot issues

Experience with cam–operated systems is highly desirable

Willingness to learn and develop further (training can be provided where needed)

Reliable, detail–oriented, and proactive
