ROLE TITLE: Shift Engineer

HOURS: Full Time – Permanent

WORKING PATTERN: Rotating Day and Late Shifts

LOCATION: Dunstable, Bedfordshire

REPORTING TO: Maintenance Manager

Key Responsibilities of Shift Engineer / Maintenance Engineer

To liaise with the Maintenance Manager to plan & Prioritise work to minimise downtime and maximise output.To deliver maintenance priorities (PPM's) and ensure these are logged when complete in SAP to ensure failure to complete PPM's is communicated. .Attend breakdowns on site ensuring there is always a rapid response and that plant equipment and machinery breakdown time is minimisedCarry out repairs to plant, equipment and facilities during production, effectively and efficiently either alone or as part of a team.To continuously identify ways to reduce costs and improve standards and efficiency in all areasTo achieve hygiene audit standards in the engineering function & plan and assist in routine shutdown for hygiene purposesChampioning Continuous Improvement within the companyTo control the maintenance of service equipment.To work proactively with all Team Leaders to develop and drive a culture safe working practices and environmentImprove OEEParticipate in the out of hours on call system when required.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Essential

GCSE Maths & English grade A–C, or equivalent17th or 18th edition 18th Edition Electrical Wiring RegsHND/HNC electrical/mechanical engineering or equivalentPossess engineering background, either mechanical, electricalPrevious hands on knowledge of working within the food industryPrevious experience in FMCGAble to manage varied workloadGood organisational skillsGood interpersonal and team working skillsCustomer focusedStrong problem–solving skillsAbility to adapt to changeAbility to build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, customers and colleaguesConfident decision–making abilityAbility to effectively communicate internally and externally at all levelsGood influencing skillsAble to explain project ideas and plans clearlyStrong written and verbal communications skillsCan demonstrate patience and the ability to deal with a wide variety of peopleSelf–motivatedSelf–starter

Role: Shift Engineer

Pay rates:

Hourly rates: 22.79 for basic shift and 25.76 for late shift.Overtime is x1.5 weekdays and weekend 1.75

Shifts: 06:00 – 14:00 M–F / 13:45 – 23:45 Midnight M–T on rotation

Candidates must have 18th Edition electrical (17th would be fine too) and preferably have food industry experience.
