Description
Our engineering and manufacturing client is looking for a Production Planner and is open to someone with practical manufacturing experience who would like to move into planning.
You might currently work in machining, assembly, fabrication, production, stores or a team leader role. If you enjoy organising work, solving problems and keeping things moving, this could be an opportunity to take your career in a different direction.
The role
Working closely with production, purchasing, stores and engineering colleagues, you will help ensure the factory has the materials, information and priorities needed to deliver work on time.
Your responsibilities will include:
Preparing work orders and organising manufacturing documentation.
Helping to schedule production and track progress.
Coordinating with stores and purchasing on material availability.
Speaking with supervisors and colleagues to resolve production delays.
Keeping systems updated as work moves through the factory.
Using your practical knowledge to help improve production flow.
About you
We are open to people from different manufacturing backgrounds. You do not need to have held a Production Planner title or have a degree to be considered.
Your understanding of how work moves through a factory could provide a useful foundation. You may already help organise jobs, check materials, update records or respond when priorities change.
Being comfortable with computers, taking care with detail and communicating well with colleagues will help you make the move into planning. Experience with Excel or a manufacturing system would be useful, although knowledge of a particular software package is not essential.
