Product Development & Applications Technician

Description

We're seeking a hands–on Product Development & Applications Technician to support the engineering team in the development, testing, and real–world application of new safety products. This role is ideal for someone with a strong automotive background and practical experience in vehicle electrical systems, fault finding, and installation.

You'll play a key role in shaping product suitability for installers and end–users, helping reduce installation time and cost while improving integration and functionality. The role combines office–based work with site visits across the UK and occasional liaison with international suppliers.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct product and system testing, evaluation, verification, and validationProvide vehicle–related technical expertise to support product developmentLead or support updates to product documentation and technical materialsGuide product design with practical insights from vehicle installation experienceKey Tasks

Benchmarking, teardown, troubleshooting, and reporting on safety technologiesLead installations and technical support during product trials on vehiclesElectrical and mechanical modification, prototype construction, and reworkParticipate in engineering meetings and cross–functional project activitiesDeliver technical support and training to customers and internal teams

What You'll Bring

Hands–on experience with vehicle electrical systems (HGV experience preferred)Basic understanding of analogue/digital circuits and diagnostic toolsProficiency in Microsoft 365 and standard desktop applicationsMethodical, detail–oriented, and self–motivated approachStrong communication skills and a collaborative mindsetFlexibility to travel and work beyond standard hours when requiredResourceful and eager to learn, with respect for colleagues and company values
