Description

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Plant Mechanic to join a busy local authority workshop in Derby on a temp–to–perm basis.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a dedicated team responsible for maintaining and repairing a wide range of plant and grounds maintenance equipment, helping to keep essential frontline services operating safely and efficiently.

Location: Stores Road, Derby Salary: 30,024 per annum Hours: 37 hours per week Contract: Temp to Perm Start: ASAP The Role:

As a Plant Mechanic, you will support the Workshop Manager and Lead Mechanic in carrying out servicing, maintenance, diagnostics and repairs on a variety of plant and machinery used across Derby City Council's grounds maintenance operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Carry out routine servicing, maintenance and repairs on plant and grounds maintenance equipment. Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic faults. Attend plant breakdowns and carry out emergency repairs both on–site and within the workshop. Undertake welding, fabrication and modification work, including manufacturing replacement parts where required. Complete service records, inspection reports and daily worksheets accurately. Assist in the specification and selection of new plant and machinery. Support the induction and training of new employees, apprentices and work experience placements. Contribute to the continuous improvement of workshop systems and procedures. About You:

Proven experience as a Plant Mechanic, Plant Technician, Plant Fitter or Heavy Plant Mechanic. Experience maintaining and repairing grounds maintenance machinery, plant equipment or similar mechanical equipment. Strong diagnostic skills across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Welding and fabrication experience. A commitment to maintaining high standards of health and safety.
