OPERATIONS MANAGER – NEW SITE SET UP AND MANAGEMENT

COMMUTABLE FROM NORTHAMPTONSHIRE / BUCKINGHAMSHIRE / CAMBRIDGESHIRE

SALARY UP TO 75K (Depending on Experience) + Car Allowance Negotiable + 24 Days Holiday + Private Pension + Life Insurance + Private Health Insurance (After 2 years) + Performance Related Variable Bonus

Our client is leading industrial packaging manufacturer, they specialise in full packaging solutions including wooden and corrugated boxes, pallets, returnable packaging, export packaging etc for a range of market sectors.

They are currently looking for an experienced Operations Manager to join their growing business. You will be accountable for effective day to day running of the manufacturing facility ensuring production processes are running safely and efficiently to meet with the quality standards. This position involves leadership in planning, organisation, direction and coordination of all plant activities to achieve key operational goals including safety, product quality and cost management. You will play a key role optimising the use of resources ensuring full compliance with the company policies and regulations requirements.

This role is to set up and manage a brand new site, the role comes with large scope for progression as the company is in a steep growth mode, the site will grow massively over the next years

Key Responsibilities:

Direct and oversee all plant operations, including production, maintenance, quality assurance and supply chainOptimise the use of manpower, materials and equipment to consistently achieve production targetsMonitor daily operations and adjust schedules as needed to prevent delaysLead, coach and support plant staff including departmental managers across Production, Quality and MaintenanceDesign and deliver training programs to build skills ensure compliance and strengthen workplace safetyPromote a culture of teamwork, accountability and continuous improvementConduct staff performance reviews and resolve employee relations issues when requiredEnsure full compliance with health, safety, environmental regulations and company standardsDevelop and enforce safety systems to reduce risk and minimise workplace incidentsOversee maintenance programs to keep equipment safe, compliant and operationalAlign production output with quality standards and industry requirementsResolve production challenges quickly to minimise downtime and maintain efficiencyPartner with quality control to ensure all products meet specifications and customer expectationsImplement quality assurance measures to drive consistency and reduce defectsAddress process–related quality issues and implement corrective actionsManage the plant's operating budget, controlling labour, material and equipment costsIdentify and apply cost–reduction initiatives to improve profitability without sacrificing qualityEstablish and track KPIs to measure efficiency and cost–effectivenessLead continuous improvement projects to boost capacity, reduce waste and increase productivityApply lean manufacturing and process optimisation strategiesStay informed on industry trends and integrate innovative practices and technologiesCollaborate cross–functionally with procurement, logistics, R&D and sales to align operations with business goalsCoordinate with supply chain and procurement teams to secure timely delivery of raw materialsProvide senior management with regular updates on performance, challenges and opportunitiesPrepare and present reports covering production results, safety data and financial metricsLeverage data analysis to spot trends and support informed decision–makingEscalate critical issues, risks or opportunities to senior leadershipRequirements:

Looking for 5+ years of manufacturing or plant operations experience / working in a leadership roleStrong track record of managing production teams and enhancing operational efficiency
