Description

Mechanical Engineer – Rural Carlisle

Salary: 43,900 per year

Shifts: Monday – Friday

Earlies: 06:00–14:00

Lates: 14:00–22:00

Days: 08:00–16:00 (occasional)

Holidays: 25 days plus 8 bank holidays (company closed over Christmas)

Adecco Workington are delighted to be recruiting for our client in rural Carlisle, a well–established and respected manufacturing company known for its innovative approach and supportive working environment.

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join the team. This is a hands–on role where you will carry out maintenance, repair, and fault diagnosis across machinery and factory equipment. You will work both independently and as part of a team, following maintenance schedules and ensuring work is completed safely and efficiently. The role also includes assisting with equipment installation, process support, and completing the required documentation.

The ideal candidate will have:

Recognised mechanical qualifications, a completed apprenticeship, or proven experience in a similar maintenance role within manufacturing

Strong knowledge of preventative maintenance and safety procedures, including lock out/tag out and general HSE practices

Experience in troubleshooting, fault finding, and repairing mechanical equipment

Understanding of mechanical components, both metric and imperial, and the ability to interpret technical drawings

Knowledge of machinery systems including hydraulic, pneumatic, process drives, pumps, and bulk solids/fluid systems

Excellent communication, numeracy, and attention to detail

Flexibility, initiative, and the ability to build strong working relationships within a team
