Job Role: Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

Location: Sheffield

Shift: Days Only

Metalis are working with a market leader in the heavy engineering sector, delivering solutions across multiple industries. With a strong commitment to safety, innovation, and operational excellence, they are seeking a skilled Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to join their dynamic maintenance team.

The Role

As a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of heavy machinery and plant equipment. You'll be responsible for planned and reactive maintenance, fault finding, and continuous improvement in a fast–paced, industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities

Perform mechanical maintenance on heavy industrial equipmentDiagnose faults and carry out repairs to minimize downtime.Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance tasks.Support installation and commissioning of new machinery.Work closely with production and engineering teams to improve equipment performance.Maintain accurate maintenance records and adhere to health & safety standards.Key Skills & Experience

Time–served Mechanical Engineer (NVQ Level 3 / HNC / Apprenticeship or equivalent).Proven experience in a heavy engineering or industrial environment.Strong knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, gearboxes, and rotating equipment.Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals.Excellent problem–solving skills and a proactive attitude.Experience with CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management Systems).IOSH/NEBOSH or other safety qualifications.Salary & Benefits
