Pay Rate: Starting at GBP15.55 per hour PAYE, increasing to GBP17.28 per hour upon passing a 1-month assessment (may be sooner if you are confident with the work).Hours: Monday to Thursday 7:30am - 4:00pm, Friday 7:30am - 12:30pm (39 hours per week)Duration: Ongoing contract (6+ months)The RoleWe are looking for an experienced Assembly Fitter to join a busy engineering team in Birkenhead. The role involves dismantling, cleaning, inspecting, repairing, and reassembling mechanical and rail-related components, ensuring all work meets high quality and safety standards.Main ResponsibilitiesDismantle, clean, inspect, and reassemble a variety of rail and mechanical equipmentWork independently or as part of a team to meet production deadlinesOverhaul and test components including brake systems, actuators, couplers, and discsSet up and operate test rigs, interpret results, and make adjustments as requiredIdentify and resolve faults, escalating complex issues to the relevant personnelRead and follow engineering drawings, work instructions, and technical documentationContribute to continuous improvement activities such as 5S and efficiency projectsMaintain tools, gauges, and equipment in good working orderSupport shift handovers and assist with training when requiredAlways adhere to company health, safety, and environmental policiesCarry out additional related tasks as directed by managementSkills and Experience RequiredStrong general engineering background (essential)Previous experience in assembly, manufacturing, or overhaul environments (essential)Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings (essential)Time-served mechanical fitter (desirable)Basic electrical knowledge or bias (desirable)Interested?For more information or to apply, contact:Alex Cameron
