Are you a proven Manufacturing Team Leader or Supervisor who can lead from the front and drive standards in a fast–paced production environment?

Progressive and a Global Engineering & Manufacturing Company are looking to recruit a Manufacturing Team Leader on a Staff basis for their UK Manufacturing Site near Stevenage.

This is an opportunity to join a well–established engineering and manufacturing business where you will take ownership of a key production team and play a critical role in improving performance, accountability, and delivery.

The Manufacturing Team Leader Role

As a Manufacturing Team Leader, you will be responsible for leading a team of around 12 operators, making sure production runs to plan and standards are consistently met across safety, quality, and delivery.

This is a hands–on leadership role where you'll be expected to be visible on the shop floor, tackle issues head–on, and create a culture of accountability within a team that needs clear direction and strong leadership.

Key Responsibilities of the Manufacturing Team Leader

Lead a team on the shop floor, ensuring daily output is achieved and standards are maintainedKeep production on track by spotting issues early and dealing with them before they impact deliveryWork closely with planning and supply chain to make sure work flows smoothly and priorities are clearHold regular conversations with team members around performance, attitude, and expectationsTake ownership of people–related matters including absence, performance management, and discipline where requiredDrive improvements in the way the team works, focusing on efficiency, quality, and consistencyGet to the root cause of problems and put practical fixes in place to stop them happening againPromote a safe working environment and ensure procedures are followed at all timesKeep a close eye on progress against plan and step in quickly when things start to drift

Requirements for the Manufacturing Team Leader Role

Experience within a manufacturing or production environmentPrevious experience leading or supervising teams on the shop floorStrong people management skills with the confidence to challenge behaviours when neededExperience driving performance and hitting production targetsExposure to continuous improvement or lean manufacturingAble to quickly understand whether issues are due to training, capability, or attitudeExperience working with production planning, MRP or Kanban systems is beneficialIOSH or supervisory qualifications would be advantageous
