Manufacturing Manager

Location: Chelmsford, Essex

Salary: 50,000 + Benefits

We are a specialist recruitment agency currently partnering with a well–established manufacturing business in Chelmsford to recruit an experienced Manufacturing Manager. This is a key leadership position within a stable and growing organisation, offering the opportunity to drive operational performance and lead a skilled production team.

The Role

As Manufacturing Manager, you will have full responsibility for day–to–day production operations, ensuring output, quality, cost, and delivery targets are consistently achieved. You will play a central role in improving efficiency, developing teams, and embedding a culture of continuous improvement across the shop floor.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and manage all manufacturing and production activities on siteEnsure production targets are met in line with quality and safety standardsDrive operational efficiency and continuous improvement initiativesManage production planning and resource allocationOversee health and safety compliance across the manufacturing functionMonitor KPIs and implement corrective actions where requiredDevelop, coach, and performance–manage production supervisors and team leadersCollaborate with engineering, supply chain, and quality teams to optimise performance

About You

Proven experience in a Manufacturing Manager or Production Manager role within a manufacturing environmentStrong understanding of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principlesDemonstrated experience leading and developing production teamsSolid knowledge of health and safety regulations within manufacturingStrong organisational and problem–solving skillsCommercial awareness with the ability to manage budgets and costsRelevant engineering or manufacturing qualification preferred
