Description

Manufacturing Engineer

The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for developing, improving, and maintaining manufacturing processes to ensure efficient, cost–effective, and high–quality production. The role involves creating and maintaining process documentation, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and providing technical expertise in manufacturing systems, CNC programming, tooling, and process optimization.

Key Responsibilities:

Process & Documentation Control

Interpret and understand detailed engineering drawings and specifications.

Compile and update Manufacturing Instructions, Route Cards, T–Sheets, and Batch Cards.

Produce Inspection and Test Plans to ensure product quality and compliance.

Maintain and update Bills of Materials (BOMs) and support Engineering Change Processes.

Update ERP systems and manufacturing databases to reflect latest processes and configurations.

Manufacturing Process Development

Analyse manufacturing data to assess process capabilities and identify areas for improvement.

Optimize and improve process capability to meet or exceed productivity and quality targets.

Provide plant and process layouts for new and existing products, focusing on cellular manufacturing and lean principles.

Support the maintenance and development of jigs, fixtures, and tooling for new and existing processes.

Technical Support & CNC Programming

Develop and provide CNC programs for 3, 4, and 5–axis milling and mill/turn machines.

Create CAD models and CNC programs using EdgeCam and SolidEdge software.

Inspect finished components and tooling using 3D probes and measurement systems.

Modify and interrogate CNC programs to ensure efficiency, reliability, and compliance with production standards.

Troubleshoot manufacturing and programming issues to minimize downtime and ensure smooth production flow.

Continuous Improvement

Lead and support continuous improvement activities (Kaizen events) across manufacturing operations.

Implement operational best practices and contribute to lean manufacturing initiatives.

Ensure all processes align with company standards for safety, quality, and efficiency.

Skills & Experience Required:

Proven experience in a Manufacturing or Production Engineering role.

Strong understanding of CNC machining, tooling, and manufacturing methods.

Experience with EdgeCam, SolidEdge, or equivalent CAD/CAM software.

Knowledge of ERP systems and BOM management.

Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies.

Excellent problem–solving and analytical skills.

Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.

Strong organizational and communication skills.

Qualifications:

HND/Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Production Engineering (or equivalent experience).

Additional qualifications in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or related disciplines desirable.
