Interim Assistant Accountant

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced finance professional to join a growing, fast–paced manufacturing business during a period of transition. This is a broad and varied role within a small team, offering the opportunity to take ownership of the day–to–day finance function while supporting month–end reporting, cash flow management and business operations. Part–time and full–time applications are both welcome.

This position would suit an experienced Assistant Accountant, Senior Bookkeeper, or Assistant Management Accountant who enjoys working in a hands–on environment and is comfortable getting involved in both transactional finance and management accounting duties.

Your new role

Working closely with senior leadership, you will be responsible for maintaining the smooth running of the finance function while providing accurate and timely financial information to support decision–making across the business.

Key responsibilities will include:

Producing monthly management accounts, including profit and loss and balance sheet reportingManaging month–end close processesPosting journals, accruals, prepayments and depreciationPerforming balance sheet reconciliations and maintaining robust financial controlsManaging stock reconciliations and supporting stock margin analysisPreparing and maintaining weekly cash flow forecastsProcessing and overseeing supplier paymentsSupporting purchase and sales ledger activities Producing customer statements and carrying out credit control activities via email and telephoneWorking closely with operational teams to ensure accurate financial and stock informationSupporting continued use of ERP and accounting systems to maintain data quality and reporting accuracyProviding ad hoc financial support and analysis for senior stakeholdersThis is a genuinely hands–on role and would suit someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves and getting involved in all aspects of finance within a smaller business environment.

What we're looking for

Experience across Purchase Ledger and Sales Ledger Month–end accounting experienceConfident preparing journals, accruals, prepayments and reconciliationsExperience producing management accounts and cash flow reportingKnowledge of Xero would be highly advantageousKnowledge of Strong Excel skills and confidence working with finance systems and ERP platforms (Unleashed experience would be advantageous) Previous experience within manufacturing, FMCG, stock–led or product–based environments Ability to work independently and manage priorities with minimal supervisionA proactive, self–starting approach with excellent attention to detailStrong communication skills and confidence building relationships across the businessAAT Qualified or CIMA Part qual desirable (QBE also considered)
