Horizontal Borer
Location: Canterbury
Salary: Up to £18 per hour (dependent on experience)
Contract: Permanent
Hours: 39 hours per week
* Monday–Thursday: 8:00am – 4:30pm (30‑minute break)
* Friday: 8:00am – 3:30pm (30‑minute break)
About the Role:
Our Client, a well‑established precision engineering business based in Canterbury, is seeking a highly skilled Horizontal Borer to join their stable and long‑standing manufacturing team. This is a key role within the workshop, focused on producing high‑accuracy components to exacting standards.
This opportunity would suit an experienced machinist who is confident working independently and has strong hands‑on expertise operating horizontal boring machines. The role offers excellent earning potential through regular overtime and the chance to join a company with a loyal workforce and strong reputation for quality.
Key Responsibilities:
* Operate horizontal boring machines, primarily TOS W100 models.
* Carry out milling, drilling and tapping operations.
* Produce components to tight tolerances and detailed engineering drawings.
* Work independently to a consistently high standard.
* Maintain quality, accuracy and attention to detail throughout the machining process.
Skills & Experience Required:
* Proven experience as a Horizontal Borer.
* Strong proficiency operating TOS horizontal boring machines (W100 experience highly desirable).
* Ability to work to tight tolerances with minimal supervision.
* Solid background in precision engineering or machining.
* Reliable, steady and quality‑focused approach to work.
