Are you an experienced Health & Safety professional looking for a part-time role where you can have a real influence on how safety and compliance work day to day?

Fresh Start Waste Services is looking for a Health, Safety & Compliance Advisor to join the team and provide practical, hands-on support to managers across the business.

This isn't a role that's simply about policies and paperwork. You will be working closely with operational teams, helping managers understand their responsibilities, identifying areas for improvement and making sure good Health & Safety practice becomes part of everyday working life.

The role is 22.5 hours per week, ideally worked as 4.5 hours per day across Monday to Friday, making it a great opportunity for an experienced H&S professional looking for a part-time position while still taking ownership of a varied and responsible workload.

Role overview

Working closely with the MRF Operations & Compliance Manager, you'll provide advice, guidance and coordination across Health, Safety and operational compliance.

Your responsibilities will include:

The role covers a broad range of compliance activity, including audits and inspections, risk assessments, statutory programmes and incident investigation.

About you

We are looking for someone who can combine sound technical knowledge with a practical approach.

You'll be comfortable working with managers and operational teams, explaining requirements clearly and helping people find workable solutions rather than simply telling them what the rules say.

You will need:

NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalentPrevious experience providing practical Health & Safety support within an operational environmentGood knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislationStrong organisational and administrative skillsConfident communication and relationship-building skillsThe ability to influence people at different levels of a businessGood report writing and IT skillsA full UK driving licence
NEBOSH or equivalent, operational H&S experience, UK legislation knowledge and a full UK driving licence are all listed as essential requirements in the role profile.

Experience within waste, recycling, manufacturing or logistics would be particularly useful, as would experience in a multi-site environment, supporting ISO management systems or holding an Internal Auditor qualification.

The opportunity

This is a varied role where you will have the chance to work closely with the people responsible for operations rather than sitting at a distance from the day-to-day running of the business.

You will be joining Fresh Start Waste Services in a position where your knowledge and input will genuinely matter, helping the business maintain high standards while continuing to strengthen its approach to Health & Safety and compliance.
