Advert Details:

At Panda, we value waste. That means finding smarter, safer and more sustainable ways to recover value from materials and keep essential operations moving.

We are looking for a Biomass Plant Operator / Technician to join our plant team and help support the safe, reliable and efficient operation of our biomass power generation facility. This is a hands-on role suited to someone with experience in biomass, boilers, turbines, industrial plant, utilities, or power generation who enjoys working close to the operation and solving problems in real time.

You will play an important part in monitoring plant performance, maintaining equipment, responding to faults and helping ensure the plant operates safely, efficiently and in line with environmental and operational standards.

What you’ll be doing

You will monitor and control biomass plant operations, including furnace combustion performance, CEMS data, electrical generation output and wider plant performance.

You will carry out routine inspections, planned maintenance and first-line repairs across key plant equipment, helping to keep downtime to a minimum.

You will identify, diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical faults, working quickly and safely to restore reliable operation.

You will maintain accurate operational records, including production data, maintenance logs, plant checks and safety documentation.

You will support compliance with health, safety, environmental and operational procedures, making sure standards are followed at all times.

You will work with SCADA systems, digital readouts and performance information to understand how the plant is running and where improvements can be made.

You will support continuous improvement activity, plant optimisation and practical changes that improve reliability, efficiency and safety.

You will work closely with the wider plant team, contributing to a strong team culture where safety, ownership and high standards matter. What we’re looking for

We are looking for someone with practical experience in biomass power generation, boilers, turbines, industrial plant operations, water treatment, or a similar heavy industrial environment.

You will bring a good understanding of mechanical plant and associated systems, which may include conveyors, heat exchangers, pumps, valves, RO water treatment, combustion systems or electrical generation equipment.

You will be confident interpreting plant data, SCADA screens, alarms, digital readouts and performance charts to support effective decision-making.

You will have strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to respond calmly and effectively when equipment issues arise.

A recognised mechanical or electrical qualification would be beneficial, although strong hands-on plant experience is equally important.

You will be comfortable working independently when needed, while also being part of a small, operationally focused team.

Most importantly, you will bring a strong commitment to safety, compliance, reliability and doing the job properly. Why join Panda?

This is an opportunity to work in a business focused on resource recovery, sustainability and continuous improvement. Our operations are practical, essential and constantly evolving, and our people are at the centre of making them work.

At Panda, you will be part of a team that takes pride in keeping critical operations running safely and efficiently. You will have the chance to build your technical knowledge, contribute to plant performance and play a role in a business that is helping shape a more circular future.
