Description

The purpose of this role is to ensure the efficient planning, coordination, and execution of daily transport operations. The Transport Planner is responsible for optimising vehicle movements, supporting drivers, maintaining compliance with all transport legislation, and ensuring that customer deliveries are completed safely, on time, and to the company's high standards. This role plays a vital part in maintaining operational efficiency, legal compliance, and exceptional customer service.

Reports to: Senior Transport Manager / Head of Transport

Shift Patterns: 04:0011:00, 06:0013:00, 11:0018:30

Detail: Transport Planner within our dedicated transport team in Portsmouth. In this key operational role, you will plan daily vehicle movements, monitor driver compliance, communicate effectively with drivers and customers, and ensure the smooth running of all transport

Responsibilities:

Plan and schedule vehicle and trailer movements to meet delivery deadlines efficiently.

Communicate with drivers throughout the day, providing clear instructions and support.

Track and monitor vehicle and trailer locations using in–house systems such as Mandata, Webfleet, and Fleetcheck.

Ensure all drivers operate within transport legislation and maintain tachograph compliance.

Act as a key holder, responsible for opening and closing the site as required.

Work closely with the transport team to maintain smooth and efficient operations.

Handle customer queries professionally, maintaining excellent relationships with clients and colleagues.

Maintain accurate transport records and assist with administrative duties.

Identify and resolve issues promptly to minimise disruption and maintain service levels.

Experience

Previous experience in a transport planning or logistics coordination role (preferred).

Strong understanding of transport compliance, driver hours, and tachograph regulations.

Experience using transport management systems such as Mandata, Webfleet, or Fleetcheck is highly desirable.

Excellent organisational and communication skills.

Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities.

Strong attention to detail and problem–solving skills.

Team player with a proactive and reliable approach.
