Driving Licence: Preferred but Not Essential

About Us

Excel Resources is a growing, ambitious family-run business providing a diverse range of services to commercial and private clients across London and beyond.

Our operations cover everything from logistics, deliveries and relocations to specialist installations, property services, event support and bespoke projects.

We have built our reputation on reliability, professionalism, problem-solving and our ability to go above and beyond to meet our clients' needs.

As our company continues to expand, we are looking for reliable, hardworking and motivated Porters & Installation Support Operatives to join our growing team.

The Role

We are looking for practical, enthusiastic and physically capable individuals to support our teams across a wide range of assignments, including installations, deliveries, relocations, loading and unloading, and general portering duties.

This is a varied, hands-on position suited to someone who enjoys physical work, being part of a team and working in different environments.

One day you may be assisting with a large commercial installation, while another could involve unloading a delivery vehicle, relocating office furniture, supporting an event setup or assisting with a specialist project.

While previous experience is beneficial, we place equal importance on reliability, attitude, a willingness to learn and a strong work ethic.

We have opportunities available during normal business hours, as well as evenings, nights and weekends, offering flexibility and the potential for additional earnings.

Location & Working Arrangements

This is a mobile, site-based role, with assignments taking place at various client locations across London and the surrounding areas.

Our offices and operational bases are located in Stratford (E20) and Royal Docks (E16). However, the majority of work will involve travelling directly to client sites or meeting our teams at an agreed location.

Assignments may vary in duration, location and working hours depending on client requirements.

We are particularly interested in individuals who can offer flexibility and are willing to undertake work outside standard business hours when required.

Key Responsibilities

Portering, Loading & Unloading

Loading and unloading delivery vehicles, vans and larger commercial trucks.

Moving furniture, equipment, materials and other goods safely and efficiently.

Carrying items into and out of commercial buildings, offices, retail premises, warehouses and residential properties.

Assisting with deliveries, collections and internal building movements.

Supporting the safe handling and positioning of heavy, fragile or valuable items.

Protecting client premises, furniture and equipment during handling and transportation.

Assisting with packing, wrapping, securing and preparing goods for transport.

Installations & Project Support

Assisting skilled installers, technicians and tradespeople with on-site projects.

Helping assemble, position and install office furniture, shelving, displays and other equipment.

Unpacking and preparing furniture, fixtures and equipment for installation.

Moving tools, materials and equipment to and from working areas.

Supporting commercial fit-outs, office setups and retail installations.

Assisting with the dismantling, relocation and reassembly of furniture and equipment.

Removing packaging, clearing work areas and leaving sites clean and presentable.

Providing general labouring and practical support as required.

Relocations, Events & Additional Duties

Assisting with office and commercial relocations.

Supporting event setups, breakdowns and equipment movements.

Helping with warehouse operations, stock movements and storage projects.

Assisting with specialist deliveries and collections.

Undertaking general site support and labouring duties.

Supporting other areas of the business as operational requirements change.

Flexibility is an important part of the role, and we are looking for individuals who are comfortable undertaking a wide variety of practical assignments.

Skills & Experience

Essential Requirements

A strong work ethic and a reliable, punctual approach.

Physical capability to safely undertake manual handling and lifting duties.

A positive attitude and willingness to carry out a variety of tasks.

The ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a team.

Good communication skills and a polite, professional manner.

Care and attention when handling client goods and working within client premises.

The ability to work efficiently in busy, fast-paced environments.

A flexible approach to working hours and assignment locations.

A proactive attitude and willingness to learn new skills.

Desirable but Not Essential

Previous experience in portering, removals, logistics, installations or general labouring.

Experience loading and unloading commercial vehicles.

Experience assisting with office furniture assembly or installations.

Knowledge of safe manual handling techniques.

Experience working in commercial offices, luxury retail stores, events or similar environments.

A full UK driving licence.

Access to your own vehicle.

Good geographical knowledge of London and the surrounding areas.

A driving licence and access to your own vehicle are preferred but not essential.

Candidates with a driving licence and their own transport may be eligible for a wider range of assignments, including driving duties, independent site visits and work at locations or times where public transport is less accessible.

This may create additional working and earning opportunities depending on your skills, availability and the requirements of each assignment.

However, we also welcome applications from individuals without a driving licence or vehicle who can demonstrate reliability, flexibility and a strong willingness to work.

Working Hours & Earning Opportunities

We offer a variety of opportunities to suit different availability, including:

In-Hours Work: Weekday assignments during normal business hours.

Out-of-Hours Work: Evening and overnight assignments.

Weekend Work: Saturday and Sunday opportunities.

Project-Based Work: Assignments of varying durations depending on client requirements.

Additional Opportunities: The potential to undertake extra work based on availability, experience, skills and transport capabilities.

Some of our clients require services outside traditional working hours to minimise disruption to their operations, creating opportunities for those who are happy to work evenings, nights and weekends.

Individuals who demonstrate reliability, flexibility and a willingness to develop additional skills may be considered for a broader range of assignments as opportunities arise.

The Person We're Looking For

While experience is valuable, we believe that attitude, character and commitment are equally important.

We are looking for someone who:

Takes pride in their work: Approaches every assignment, regardless of its size or complexity, with care and professionalism.

Is reliable and dependable: Understands the importance of punctuality and following through on commitments.

Shows initiative: Looks for ways to help the team and doesn't need to be constantly directed.

Is a genuine team player: Willingly supports colleagues and understands the importance of working together.

Is adaptable and versatile: Enjoys variety and is happy to undertake different responsibilities.

Represents the company professionally: Understands that appearance, communication and behaviour are an important part of delivering excellent service.

Is ambitious and motivated: Wants to build experience, develop new skills and take on greater responsibility.

We want individuals who don't simply turn up to complete a shift but take an active interest in the quality of the work being delivered and the success of the wider team.
