This is a fantastic opportunity to join a globally recognised transportation and logistics organisation as it undergoes a major cloud and data transformation. You'll take ownership of the data engineering function, shape the long-term strategy, and build a high-performing team that will have a direct impact on business-wide decision making.

THE COMPANY

Our client is a leading international logistics and transportation business operating at global scale. Backed by a major multinational group, they are investing heavily in modernising their technology and data capabilities, transitioning from legacy systems to a cloud-native data platform. This role offers the chance to lead that transformation while building a sustainable in-house engineering capability.

THE ROLE

Lead, mentor and develop a team of 8-10 Data Engineers across onshore and offshore locations Define and deliver the data engineering strategy, roadmap and best practices Drive the migration from legacy on-premise technology to a modern AWS and Snowflake data platform Build internal capability and reduce reliance on external contractors Partner closely with Architecture, Analytics and senior business stakeholders Oversee platform reliability, support processes and engineering standards Provide technical leadership across data platform and engineering initiatives YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

Strong background in Data Engineering with previous people leadership experience Experience managing engineering teams of roughly 8-10 individuals Strong knowledge of Python, SQL, ETL/ELT pipelines and data warehousing concepts Experience working with cloud platforms, ideally AWS and Snowflake Good understanding of data modelling and modern data architecture principles Experience delivering cloud transformation or platform modernisation programmes Strong stakeholder management and communication skills Comfortable leading teams through organisational change and growth SALARY AND BENEFITS
