hired John about 3 weeks ago to install a shower, sink and toilet vanity unit replacing a bath, sink and toilet plus some wall tiling. I thought he seemed professional, reliable and knowledgeable about bathroom installations. He also seemed to charge a reasonable price. He turned up on time and worked hard for 4 days installing a shower and vanity units in my small bathroom. He was approachable and we sorted out some practical issues on the way. However when the job had come to an end I found numerous unfinished work: an unsealed toilet and shower with gunk all over the floor. A broken tile opposite the door and an uneven one at the top which I had to remind him to fix. Tile ends above the shower were left unsealed and not flush. Although he eventually put tile ends on I had to fill the uneven gaps with grout. Worst of all he installed my shower mixer bar wonky and initially tried to make out it was to do with the shower tray level. I got him to come back a week later to fix this and do the outstanding sealant work. Although he straightened the shower bar with converters he left an unsightly gap between the shower plates and the wall. Not good. He even wanted to charge me for the extra gadgets to do this repair. I got back to him to say it's not acceptable and was told he couldnt come to fix it for another 6 weeks as he was abroad. I asked him to send another staff member to do it as water may go into the wall. He initially said he would but since then I have had no response. I gave him the benefit of the doubt so many times but now realise he is totally unreliable and unprofessional. Since this I have had to hire new plumber to fix the shower bar who informed me that the cheap converters were awful quality and would not last. He now has to fix it by taking a tile or 2 out to deal with the pipework behind. This plumber has also pointed out that the outside pipe work was installed incorrectly causing a very low flow out of the shower and water build up in the middle of the semi horizontal pipe which was actually bowed. So he has had to fix that as well. This is all costing me an estimated £750 extra to put right. So very disappointing. Not what I expected at all from the reviews I had seen of John's work, which I now don't believe. My shower guarantee with Mira is invalidated due to ineffective installation. I feel extremely let down by TCJ Construction. I would never recommend this man to do anyone's plumbing or bathroom/kitchen jobs. On every level he is unprofessional: practical, aesthetic, technical and customer service. He even left mess inside and out, gunk on bathroom floor and sticky protective flooring for me to clean up. How he calls himself a professional builder/plumber I do not know.

Friendly and genuine trustworthy trader. Built the fence I wanted rather than just a panel fence at an agreed affordable price.

John was great - we brought him in to take down a tree and he was absolutely rapid! His response to our ad was immediate and the tree was down the next day within about 20mins. Brilliant service!
