Super Adept lathe full working order

Description

Super Adept lathe made in Sheffield approx 100 years ago. A search will reveal the history of this little machine from the days when every man aspired to have a little lathe in his shed!

They are not watch makers lathes as you find in Switzerland but are small scale compared to machines found in colleges and engineering shops.

Fitted with 4 jaw chuck with chuck key.
Mounted on a board with a cross shaft and sewing machine motor.
Assortment of cutters and dead centre and a tailstock chuck with key. Also included is a Sutcliffe Midget thumb oil can which is vital to keep the moving parts lubricated
Handy unit if space is limited or working on a small scale.

Approx 1931 designed by Stanley Portass and made in Sheffield .

Adept lathes have 1-5/8” swing (3-1/4” diameter) over the bed.  The gap in the bed admits material 4-1/4” diameter.  Six inches between male centres at maximum tailstock set-back.  Spindle and tailstock barrel are 3/8” mild steel running in cast iron housing

This weighs 11.4 kg un boxed and measurements are shown on one of the pics. It will be 60 x 25 x 45cm when boxed. Collection in person is welcome from north Cumbria but can pack well if couriered
