Beaufort & Rampton Landscapes is a growing design, build, and maintenance company delivering high-end residential and commercial gardens across Southwest London and Surrey. As our maintenance division continues to expand, we are seeking an experienced Garden Maintenance Team Leader to uphold and enhance the quality of our completed gardens and long-term client portfolios.
The Role
This is a hands-on, client-facing leadership role responsible for scheduling, maintaining, and developing high-end gardens to an exceptional standard. You will lead a small team of 2–3 operatives, ensuring all maintenance work is carried out efficiently, safely, and with horticultural excellence. You will also have opportunities to support the organisation and implementation of larger soft landscaping schemes.
You will work closely with the Operations Manager and Director of Design & Soft Landscaping, providing site reports and garden improvement plans while maintaining strong relationships with clients and suppliers.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Management
Lead, motivate, and support a small garden maintenance team Coordinate tasks and ensure efficient use of time and resources Support training and development of team members Collaborate with wider maintenance, design, and landscaping teams Client & Communication
Act as a professional point of contact for clients Liaise with suppliers and internal management Provide updates, feedback, and recommendations for garden improvements Identify and communicate additional work opportunities Garden Maintenance & Horticulture
Lawn care (mowing, scarifying, turf care) Planting, weeding, staking, and border maintenance Pruning of shrubs, trees, and roses Irrigation system management and watering regimes Pest and disease identification and management Soil care (mulching, conditioning, pH/moisture management) Maintenance of water features Hard surface cleaning and upkeep Soft landscaping installation Planting & Sourcing
Assist in sourcing plants and trees for new schemes Liaise with wholesale nurseries to manage quality and timelines Oversee planting and ensure high-quality installation Planning & Quality Control
Assist in creating and implementing maintenance schedules Support organisation and delivery of planting schemes Monitor plant health, garden condition, and seasonal requirements Ensure all work meets company quality standards Report on garden performance and development Health & Safety
Ensure compliance with health & safety procedures and PPE Conduct risk assessments and follow reporting processes Maintain tools, machinery, and equipment to high standards About You
You are a passionate horticulturist with leadership experience, strong plant knowledge, and a proactive approach to garden care. You take pride in delivering excellent results and building strong client relationships.
Essential Skills & Experience
Minimum 1 year’s experience as a Team Leader (or equivalent) Relevant horticultural qualification (e.g. RHS, City & Guilds – Level 1 minimum) Excellent plant knowledge and practical horticultural skills Experience in high-end garden maintenance Confident using garden machinery (mowers, hedge trimmers, scarifiers, etc.) Experience with irrigation systems Strong organisational and time-management skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Full UK driving licence Basic IT skills (email, scheduling, reporting) Desirable
PA1/PA6 spraying certificates First Aid at Work certification CSCS card Chainsaw (NPTC) certification Experience with organic pest control Interest in garden design What We Offer
