The KTM 690 SMC R raises the bar in the supermotos stakes, thanks in part to a lightweight chassis, a legendary 690 LC4 motor and a sophisticated electronics.
The 2023 KTM 690 SMC R features two rider modes that have a direct impact on wheelie control. Instead of a dedicated "wheelie control" setting, the anti-wheelie function is managed as part of the Motorcycle Traction Control (MTC) system.

How wheelie control works in the ride modes

Street Mode: The electronics are set to be very sensitive, keeping wheel slip and wheelies to a minimum. If the system detects the front wheel lifting (by monitoring wheel speed differentials), it intervenes by reducing engine power to bring it back down.

Supermoto Mode: The anti-wheelie function is less restrictive in this mode. It still permits some front-wheel lifting but is designed to prevent you from reaching the bike's balance point. While it allows for more aggressive riding, the system remains active to limit excessive wheelies.

To perform long, uninterrupted wheelies, you need to turn off the traction control system entirely.

Deactivate traction control: In Supermoto mode (Mode 2), hold down the TC button for several seconds until the TC warning light comes on, indicating the system is off.


Note: Disabling traction control also disables the anti-wheelie function, giving you full control over wheel lift.
