Description
Antique Victorian brass beam 1lb scales made by the reputed maker W & T Avery, Birmingham, with 6 original weights from half an ounce to 1lb. The scales have a brass central column and beam with a large pan on one side and a smaller pan held by chains on the other. They are set on a mahogany base.
They have been handed down through 4 generations of our family where they were used to weigh coffee beans sold by family wine merchants based in Northwich , Cheshire. The scales work perfectly and are in very good condition. Base 50cm long x 27cm wide, height from bottom of base to top of scales 59.50cm
