This 2001 Jaguar X-Type 2.5 V6 Automatic (Y-reg) is a rare early model with just 67,000 miles on the clock. It’s a smooth, well-maintained example of Jaguar’s executive saloon, with some tasteful upgrades and great potential either as a light restoration project or a use-as-is modern classic.

It comes with a replacement automatic gearbox from a 2008 model, giving improved drive quality and reliability. It also benefits from a professionally fitted twin electric tow bar, added less than five years ago, which was used to tow a small caravan for about a year. Light use only, and always within its capabilities.

Mechanically, the car is sound. The V6 engine runs beautifully and starts first time. It’s had a recent oil change, a brand-new air filter, and a new battery. All electrics work as they should, including the windows, lights, and the original Jaguar cassette stereo.

The car is currently SORN, and the last MOT expired on 15 September 2023. It passed MOTs consistently up to that point and has been off the road since.

Cosmetically, the car is in fair condition for its age. There are some paint blemishes, light age-related marks, and the bonnet release cable needs replacing. The coolant cap is a working replacement, but a new reservoir bottle would give a better fit. The interior is clean and usable, but not immaculate — ideal for someone wanting to enjoy and improve it over time.
