* £275 per day

* Outside IR35

* 6-month contract (initially)

* Remote working (UK-based)

The Opportunity:

We’re seeking a Test Engineer to join a leading consultancy supporting a major UK Government programme, working on meaningful digital projects (Government Digital Services – GDS) that directly impact public services across the UK.

You’ll design, execute and document test cases, collaborating closely with developers, business analysts and delivery teams to drive continuous improvement and excellence in delivery.

You’ll be working within an agile, cross-functional team to ensure the quality, reliability and performance of critical services.

Skills and Experience:

* Proven experience as a Test Engineer or QA Engineer within complex digital environments.

* Hands-on experience with test management tools (e.g. Jira, ALM or similar).

* Strong API testing experience, ideally using Postman or comparable tools.

* Previous experience working on UK Government digital projects or within the public sector.

* Ability to work independently without reliance on specific testing frameworks.

* Excellent communication skills and a methodical, detail-oriented approach.

Role and Responsibilities:

* Design, develop and execute manual and automated test cases across multiple services.

* Conduct API testing (e.g. using Postman) to ensure seamless integration between components.

* Document test outcomes clearly and comprehensively, ensuring traceability and transparency.

* Collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders to identify and resolve defects early.

* Contribute to continuous improvement of testing processes, tools, and standards.
