Description
Solution Architect – Cloud, Microservices, Financial Services
Contract | Hybrid
We are seeking an experienced Solution Architect to lead the design and delivery of end-to-end technology solutions across large-scale digital transformation programmes within financial services.
This role focuses on modernising legacy/mainframe systems into cloud-based microservices architectures, working closely with business stakeholders, engineering teams, and delivery leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design end-to-end solution architecture (applications, data, integration, security, infrastructure)
* Lead legacy to microservices transformation initiatives
* Define API, integration and event-driven architectures
* Ensure scalability, performance, and security across cloud platforms
* Collaborate with stakeholders and guide engineering teams through delivery
* Conduct architecture reviews and provide technical leadership
Key Skills & Experience:
* Proven experience as a Solution Architect / Technical Architect
* Strong background in microservices, APIs, REST, event-driven architecture
* Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
* Knowledge of mainframe / legacy systems (COBOL or similar)
* Hands-on experience with Java xjnqpsq or .NET
* Strong understanding of DevOps, CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes
* Experience in financial services (banking, insurance, pensions preferred)
Desirable:
* Domain-driven design (DDD), data architecture, or data mesh
* Experience in pensions or annuities platforms
