Senior IT Security Lead

Description

Belmont Recruitment are currently looking for a Senior IT Security Lead to join Bradford Council on an initial 3-6 month temporary contract. This is a full-time role working 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain the organisation’s IT Security Strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives and compliance with relevant standards (e.g. ISO 27001, NIST, NCSC, GDPR, Cyber Essentials).

Lead the creation, implementation, and monitoring of security policies, procedures, and governance frameworks.

*

Provide technical oversight of system, network, and cloud configurations, including vulnerability management and threat analysis.

*

Manage and coordinate security assurance, audits, and compliance activities.

*

Oversee incident response, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning, ensuring operational resilience.

*

Act as the senior point of contact for cyber security matters, engaging with internal teams, partners, and national forums.

*

Promote a strong security culture across the organisation through awareness, training, and leadership.

*

Monitor emerging threats, technologies, and best practices to drive innovation and continuous improvement.

About You

You will be a seasoned information security professional with a strong background in cyber risk management, technical assurance, and governance. You’ll combine hands-on technical understanding with the ability to influence, advise, and engage at a senior level.

Essential Skills and Experience:

Proven experience in a senior IT security or information assurance role.

*

Strong knowledge of security frameworks such as ISO 27001, NCSC, NIST, and GDPR.

*

Experience leading on security governance, compliance, and technical reviews.

*

Excellent understanding of cloud security, IAM, and infrastructure protection.
