Description

On behalf of our client, we are seeking to recruit a Java Developer on an initial 12-month contract. In this role, you will be involved in the design and development of new and evolving software tools and architectures, as well as their implementation for future products.

Role: Java Developer

Pay: £65 per hour Via Umbrella

Location: Bristol

Contract: Monday - Friday 37 hours per week, 12 months contract

IR35 Status: Inside

Security Clearance: Security Clearance required to start

Responsibilities

Designed and developed software tools and architectures for next-generation Air Defence Systems.

Built robust applications in Java, with awareness of system-wide impact.

Worked across the full software lifecycle, from requirements to integration and testing.

Collaborated effectively within cross-functional engineering teams.

Contributed to safety-critical systems following standards such as DO-178C, DefStan 00-55, and IEC 61508.

Applied knowledge of Ada, DDS middleware, and Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS).

Essential Skills:

Experience of working in Java (6+ years ideally)

Experience in other languages such as Ada

Knowledge of DDS middleware and Real Time Operating Systems

Knowledge of standards such as DefStan 00-55, DO-178C or IEC61508

Collaborative, open approach to development and have the ability to work well in a team and maintain momentum during development.

Experience of working across the entire software development process from engaging with requirement authorities to automated target integration and proving, supported with effective documentation

Experience of new tools, techniques and approaches that might enable us to evolve our processes to improve our efficiency and sustainability
