I'm a a teacher with over 15 years of teaching computer programming at post-secondary institutions. Prior to that, I worked at Microsoft for 6 years as a software engineer.

👨‍🎓Instruction methodology:
I'm a big believer in active learning and learning via examples. In a typical lesson, we'll work through problem sets together and discuss how we approach the problems. Solving mental puzzles is a lot like weight lifting--you won't get much out of puzzles that are either too easy or too hard. I pride myself on picking examples that are at that "just right" level so that you can build on the knowledge you already have.

Although two problems are rarely completely identical, in both mathematics and computer science, "pattern recognition" is extremely important. With our lessons together, you'll learn to recognize standard problems and adapt solutions to other exercises to solve new ones.
