Description

1993 Africa Twin 63,000 miles, MOT July '27 in excellent original condition for age in it's Beneton colour scheme "proper 90'S"!
Sounds, runs and rides like a bike with a fraction of the mileage, been very well looked after. The rims were corroded inside when I first replaced the tyres so the wheels have been rebuilt with Excell rims and stainless spokes (I still have the original rims). I replaced the front discs and pads with Brembo and it's just had new rear pads. The rear suspension linkage has also been renewed. The front sprocket is a Stefter lock-on type which prevents wear of the output shaft which is common on these so no issue there. They can also suffer from over heating voltage regulators so the previous owner converted it to a Mosfet Regulator with very high quality connectors allowing riding in Spanish summer weather. Lithium battery, stainless steel “Pivot Pegs” footrests (I have the originals), Mitchellin Anakee Wild tyres, the rear is brand new. Rugged Roads crash bars, rear pannier racks and bespoke hand brush guards allow it to lie on its side without damaging anything should it happen. 12V and USB auxilliary power sockets.
The bad things are that there are two small dents on the tank (see the images). The neutral light now comes on when the clutch is pulled in?? I was told that this was due to a diode fault in the CDI so I bought a brand new one which didn't cure it so there is a new spare CDI as well as a lot of other spares including a new old stock fairing panel, factory painted and decalled in the Beneton colours. There is a very slight flutter on the front brake which can be felt as you start to brake but disappears as braking gets heavier. This always comes up as an advisory when MOT'd but has never bothered me. The new discs didn't cure it and my local test station don't think it's worth investigating further.
The previous owner used it to travel regularly to Southern Spain, I've toured Ireland, Scotland, Wales and the Pennines and it never missed a beat. I'll be sorry to see it go but have bought a new T7 in order to do more off-road type touring. I'm 63 so need better suspension and the AT is too nice to take off road to often.
The bike is no longer insured so any test riding must be done in our factory yard or after payment has been made in full at which point I'll refund straight away if not perfectly happy, no exceptions! Payment either in cash, by bank transfer or by Paypal
