Vintage Barclays Bank Limited home safe moneybox. No Barclay's name plate to top. No key
Collection from Newchurch, Romney Marsh or happy to post.
Pre-owned. Patina and marks from age and use. Base plate slightly lose one end. Left open as opened without a key and not sure if it will automatically re-lock.
ONLY £5 ovno.
Introduced in 1929, phased out by 1970. Available free from banks for a deposit of five shillings. The key was held by the bank, so the saver had to take the moneybox into a branch to have it opened and have their money deposited into their account.
Approx 10cm wide x 6cm high.
Made in England by John Lawton & Sons Ltd, Birminham
Slots for different pre-decimal (£sd) coins, and notes, with gauge to show how much has been saved
Lockable lid, with handle.
