This is not a beginner's kit, skill rating 5 is as high as Revell's ratings go for their kits. Best for someone who has already built other 'Airfix' kits and wants something more challenging to try.

This is Revell's 100th anniversary set, a 1:400 scale plastic kit of Titanic, which comes with glue, paints, decals and also contains reprint copies of: three Titanic postcards; the Titanic promotional brochure; and of a menu from the Titanic itself.

For any serious modellers seeing this... it is the Academy kit - as tooled in 1998 - with Revell's decals and box from 1999. Any upgrade sprues/parts made for the Academy 1:400 Titanic should work with this kit.

As far as I can tell, the box has never been opened. However, there are a few wrinkles and bumps in the cardboard here and there from being stored over the years. It's not a pristine box, but the contents should be fine.

Due to the age of the kit (which was originally released in 1999) it's possible that the paints have dried out in their pots by now. When acrylic model-paints have not fully dried up, they can usually be revived and used normally by adding a small amount of water and stirring well until the consistency is right again, but if they've fully dried out they'll need replacing.
