RARE! REPLICA Children’s Books: RED RIDING HOOD; THE BOOK OF FROGS AND NICE; TURN AGAIN, TURN AGAIN!
Wimbledon, London
£50
Description
£50 for the three. Collectible collectable. Rare to find in this condition. Beautifully illustrated vintage children’s picture story books. All three titles published in the 1970s 1980s by Merrimack Publishing of New York as replicas of the Victorian originals. All in pristine A1 condition, see photos.
RED RIDING HOOD was produced in an unusual theatre style (see photos) so the reader can ‘make-believe’ they are watching a theatre performance. The pages open in the centre to reveal various scenes from the story of Little Red Riding Hood. Absolutely beautiful and charming Victorian illustrations. NB: To keep the book in pristine condition have refrained from fully opening the theatre’s pages.
THE BOOK OF FROGS AND MICE was originally published around 1892 in New York by the McLoughlin Brothers and reproduced as a replica of the original book by Merrimack Publishing in the 1980s. It contains two poems. The first one is untitled, but the second one is entitled ‘A Frog He Would a Wooing Go’. Again, wonderful elaborate illustrations.
TURN AGAIN, TURN AGAIN! TURN THE WHEEL TO CHANGE PICTURES. A Delightful Picture Book for Old and Young. Each of the four pages has a paper wheel at the side to alter the expression of a depicted character. Slight mark on the rear cover where the original price tag has been removed, otherwise pristine.
All three books sold as seen. From a pet and smoke-free home. (NB: If the item is shown on Gumtree it is still available. No need to ask.
