RAILWAY MEMORABILIA - TEA/COFFEE RAILWAY DINING SET
Derby, Derbyshire
ÂŁ12
Description
Mitropa refers to a historic German railway catering company - Mitteleuropäische Schlafwagen- und Speisewagen-Aktien-Gesellschaft - which managed dining and sleeping cars for much of the 20th century. Though the original company has evolved and been acquired by other entities, its name is still associated with dining and sleeping cars and is also the name of its successor company, which runs restaurants on trains and at railway stations.
Mitropa was founded in 1916 and was once synonymous with railway catering in Germany. Its burgundy-red carriages and stylized "M" logo were iconic features of German railways for decades.
This is a faithful replica tea and coffee set once used by the Mitropa Company in the dining cars on the German Railways.
It was a collectors item offered for sale by the German Railway (DB).
It consists of a ceramic cup, milk/cream jug and tea/coffee pot that all fits perfectly on a useful ceramic tray. All items are attractively badged with the famous and distinctive Mitropa red 'M' logo.
It would make an ideal gift for a fan or collector of European Railway memorabilia or simply a nice, unusual ceramic item to own.
The items offered are all in perfect condition.
It is offered for collection at just a bargain ÂŁ12.00.
If you are unable to collect I may consider posting within the UK with the actual postage and packaging cost simply added to the offer price.
