Sorry for the poor photos(My age (72).
The iconic Britannia Fractional Collection series sets two new firsts here in early 2023. Royal Mint delivers a fantastic interpretation of silver Britannia in a frosted reverse proof finish while also bearing the new King Charles III on the obverse.
Beautifully presented, it is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity guaranteeing its provenance and the product issue limit of only 1,500 sets worldwide.
Nearly two thousand years ago, a figure was shaped to symbolize a nation and its people. The Romans imagined a noble, graceful warrior and placed her on coins with the legend, Britannia, the new province they had claimed. Britannia has been re-imagined many times and she has appeared on the coins of every British monarch from Charles II through to Her Majesty The Queen. The artists of each age have depicted her in ways that reflect the ideas and style of their time. Through every incarnation, Britannia has taken on more layers of meaning and come to embody the spirit of a nation.
This set contains four of the denominations of silver Britannia proof coins issued in 2023. The proof pieces have a reverse design which differs from the standard ("bullion-grade") Britannia's issued the same year.
ROYAL MINT, Four coin commemorative set containing £2(1oz), 50p(1/4oz), 10p(1/20oz), and 5p(1/40oz) coins.
All four coins are 99.9% pure silver.
The design on each reverse features Britannia in a stylized chariot, together with aquatic and serpent-inspired equine creatures.
Each obverse features the effigy of King Charles III.
Only 1550 sets minted!
This limited edition set comes with a velvet-lined leatherette presentation box and a Certificate of Authenticity (No 0822/1550)
